Abbottâs EO prohibits any organization from regulating and requiring Texas Citizens to show proof of their vaccination.
Abbott explained that while the vaccine is helpful in preventing deaths and slowing the spread of the virus, it should always remain voluntary and never be forced upon anyone.
Abbott said the state will continue vaccinating more citizens and do everything it can to protect the health of the public, but he will not tread on the person freedoms of Texans.
This move follows in the footsteps of Floridaâs Governor, Ron Desantis, who was the first to roadblock vaccine passport legislation. Desantis stated that the government and the private sector should not be allowed to determine citizensâ participation in society strictly based on vaccination status.
It will be interesting to see how many officials echo the concerns of Abbot and DeSantis in the days ahead.
