Republican Veteran Drains Swamp In Upcoming Congressional Election

Alek Skarlatos is a 28-year-old Congressional hopeful running on the Republican ticket in Oregon this coming 2022 election. Skarlatos is better known as a veteran who participated in stopping a terrorist attack against a Paris-bound train in 2015.

Skarlatos, a literal hero, is hoping to unseat Peter DeFazio, the Democrat incumbent who has represented Oregon state’s 4th Congressional district since 1987.

Skarlatos attempted to unseat DeFazio in 2020, but his election was unsuccessful. He announced on Fox News “Fox & Friends Weekend” that he believes new districting based on the recent census will favor his election odds this cycle.

In the 2020 election cycle, Skarlatos garnered 46% of the vote, while DeFazio took 52%.

DeFazio has already taken notice of Skarlatos and attacked him on social media.

DeFazio posted on Facebook that Skarlatos is a “Trumpian,” “professional union buster,” and someone who is skeptical about the coronavirus.

He called the attempt to unseat him in 2020 “the most expensive. . . in Oregon history.”

Skarlatos is a veteran who served the Army National Guard in Afghanistan. He says that he became interested in political action after a conversation with his state senator during a plane trip, where he was encouraged to participate in Republican politics.

Skarlato was one of three Americans to take down an Islamist gunman on a train traveling between Amsterdam and Paris. All three Americans received French citizenship in a special naturalization ceremony. Skarlato also received the U.S. Army’s Soldier’s Medal.
