Rand Paul’s Wife Faces Off Against Attackers

Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) was the recipient of a death threat package at his own home on Monday, the delivery was laced with a mysterious white substance and a picture of a gun pointed at Paul’s head.

A message on the package said that the perpetrator intended to “finish what your neighbor started” referencing a prior attack Paul fell victim to.

Paul was egregiously assaulted in 2017 by his neighbor Rene Boucher while the Senator was out mowing his lawn. The attack left Paul with lung damage and six broken ribs leading to several bouts of pneumonia.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, the photo sent to Paul’s doorstep was lifted from an illustration of Paul that was created by GQ Magazine as a part of their coverage of the 2017 event.

Paul said in a statement that he takes threats such as these “immensely seriously” because he has “been targeted multiple times now.” He added that he’s frustrated with Twitter for allowing calls to violence against him and his family on the website, calling their double-standard “reprehensible.”

Rand Paul’s wife, Kelley Paul, who first received the letter and reported it to the FBI, said that she’s tired of the threats. She slammed Twitter users for boasting “empathy and compassion” in their bios while simultaneously attacking her husband with “hatred and vitriol.” She also sternly warned potential intruders that “yes, we have guns.”

The FBI has launched an investigation into the matter of the threatening letter.
